AJ IS BACK!

Anthony Joshua secured a hard-earned victory over Jermaine Franklin after a 12-round bout. While fans were hoping for a vintage Joshua knockout, it was clear that his new trainer, Derrick James, wanted him to utilize his right hand to probe Franklin with jabs in the opening round. Franklin attempted to combat this with his jab, but Joshua capitalized on opportunities, targeting the body with his shots whenever the American tried to go on the offensive.

As the fight progressed, Joshua’s right hand became more prevalent. The fighter managed to stand despite most fans expecting Franklin to not make it past six rounds. However, he began showing signs of tiredness from round eight onwards, leading to a rather messy conclusion with plenty of clinches. Although Franklin tried to keep the fight at close range, Joshua rocked him with a right uppercut in the tenth, sparking anticipation for a classic Joshua finish in the final two rounds.

The fight ultimately went to the judges’ scorecards, with two officials scoring it 117-111 and another 118-111 in favor of the Brit. While fans are eager to see Joshua take on WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, it is clear that there is still plenty of development needed in the relationship between Joshua and his new trainer.

After a chaotic couple of weeks, the victory brings order to the heavyweight division. Joshua’s return to winning ways at 33 will be celebrated, and there is hope for further career growth. With the win, Joshua cements his place among the heavyweight division’s top fighters and shows that he can adapt to new training and tactics under the guidance of his new coach.

As for Franklin, his showing against Joshua proves he is a talented heavyweight with growth potential. While he may not have secured a victory in this bout, he managed to stand through all 12 rounds against a former unified world champion.

Overall, Joshua’s win against Franklin was a hard-earned victory that showcased his adaptability and potential for growth in his career. The heavyweight division can look forward to seeing more of what Joshua has to offer in the future, whether against Fury or other top fighters.
