The Champion Has A Name, and His Name Is Charles Oliviera Fight Recap 09 May 2022: UFC 274 & Canelo Vs. Bivol

UFC 274 Feels Like The Multiverse Of Madness

Wow, what a night last Sunday at the footprint center in Arizona when UFC was live to feature an anticipated pre-summer card.

From a lackluster women’s main event to Daniel Cormier being announced to be inducted into the UFC Hall Of Fame and the most vicious front kick knockout since Anderson Silva, but most importantly, Charles Oliviera proves that he is the best lightweight in the world today.

It started with the news that Oliviera missed weight by 0.5 pounds on the scales and was stripped from his title, making Justin Gaethje the only person who could receive the designation. Oliviera was fueled with rage and frustration in his eyes behind his calm interview. He was determined to prove a point entering the fight against Gaethje.

Charles Oliviera finished Justin Gaethje in the 2nd round by Rear Naked Choke after suffering two knockdowns from the powerful Gaethje and claiming that The Champion Has A Name, And His Name Is Charles Oliviera. A cold statement from the dominant Oliviera. And don’t forget about the Front Kick Knockout from Michael Chandler to Tony Ferguson. Damn, son, we haven’t seen that KO in a long time. Ferguson dominated Chandler in the first round, and then BOOM, Chandler throws an explosive kick to ““EL CUCUY,”” sending him down to the canvas.

But to all the madness that comes, there is a fight that sucks your soul for 25 minutes due to a lack of activity in the round (WTF Ref Keith Peterson) between two women’s strawweight Rose Namajunas and Carla Esparza nothing happened except Esparza getting takedowns, and that’s how Esparza is the new women’s strawweight champion winning by split decision. That’sThat’s it...What a weird turn of events in the world of mixed martial arts.

Dimitry Bivol Upsets The Crowd By Defeating Canelo Alvarez

On the other side of the spectrum, the world of Boxing celebrated the dominant performance of Dimitry Bivol against the superstar Saul ““Canelo”” Alvarez, who steps up to challenge for the light-heavyweight strap.

Canelo presented a problem in the fight as he couldn’t penetrate his offense into Bivol’s guard and excellent technique; also, Bivol’s power and Canelo’s weight was an obstacle that the boxing superstar failed to overcome in the bout.

Bivol’sBivol’s jab was also crucial in earning his Unanimous Decision victory (115-113 ). I’m sorry I ruined your plans [for a fall trilogy fight against] Gennady Golovkin, maybe,”” Bivol said. ““Congrats to [Alvarez]; he’s a great champion, and I respect him. But if you don’t believe in yourself, what do you do? You won’t achieve anything. I believe, and my team believes.””

Canelo has nothing to be ashamed of as he steps up in weight to face a challenge that probably no other defending champion would want to take. His future is still bright; the trilogy fight against Golovkin is still in the future, or other contenders who want to claim his many assortments of belts on his throne.
